What are wireforms?
Wire products, or wire shapes, fulfil various mechanical functions in technical systems. They are used for guidance, fixation, securing, damping or as constructive support. Due to their shape and material stiffness, they can absorb forces, keep parts in position or allow controlled movement. Other than classic feathers Many wire shapes have no spring characteristics, but provide a stable and repeatable mechanical effect. Their compactness and freedom of form make them suitable for both dynamic and static applications, often in places where space is limited or where multiple functions need to be combined.
There are different types of wire shapes, each with their own functional properties. U-shapes are often used as brackets for mounting or guiding components. Z-shapes offer slight flexibility or damping, for example when bridging level differences. Curved or rounded shapes act as retaining clips, pivots or clamping elements. Multi-axis 3D shapes combine multiple functions into one compact component and are used in complex mechanisms, such as mechanical engineering or medical technology. Spiral wire shapes can temporarily store torsion or provide controlled force relaxation, for example when folding or retracting systems. Each type is chosen based on the desired movement, load and installation situation.
